Le président tunisien a ordonné cette semaine de déchoir Soha Arafat, la veuve le d'ancien président palestinien Yasser Arafat, de sa nationalité tunisienne obtenue en septembre 2006.
Les raisons d'une telle décision surprenante ne sont pas encore claires, mais en perdant sa nationalité tunisienne, Soha Arafat perd ses droits moraux et matériels en tant que citoyenne de la Tunisie.
Soha s'est installée en Tunisie après le décès de son mari, et y bénéficie de l'amitié de Leila Trabelsi, épouse du chef d'état tunisien. Des rumeurs ont même fait part de son possible mariage avec le frère de Leila, Belhassen Trabelsi, mais l'intéressée avait démenti une telle information.
Depuis quelques semaines, Soha Arafat a quitté la Tunisie pour aller s'installer à Malte, et il paraît qu'une dispute avec des investisseurs dans un projets commun en Tunisie est à l'origine d'une telle fugue.
Ni Soha Arafat, ni le gouvernement tunisien, n'ont commenté la nouvelle.

The Tunisian President has ordered this week to strip the Tunisian citizenship from Soha Arafat, widow of the former Palestinian president Yasser Arafat. After the death of her husband, Soha Arafat has always lived in Tunisia and obtained the Tunisian nationality in September 2006. Moreover, she is a close friend of Leila Trabelsi, wife of the Tunisian President, and rumours spread last year talked about her eventual wedding to the brother in law of the president, Belhassen Trabelsi.
Soha Arafat left Tunisia some weeks ago to go living in Malta, and it seems that an argument with some Tunisian investors in a common project is the reason of such departure.
Neither Soha Arafat nor the Tunisian Government commented this news.
